The New Adelphi Theatre are delighted to be hosting the Death and Performance Symposium this April, in collaboration with the University of Salford and SICK! Festival. The symposium will focus on artistic practices that explore death, dying, and grief; the full day will feature academics, performance makers, and artists from a variety of backgrounds and fields.
As the boundaries between performance practices and other art-forms break down, it is often the demands and sensitivities of subject matter that shape artistic practice and artists’ approaches to aesthetics, research, participation and presentation.
The symposium will also include an opportunity to experience and participate in Dr Sheila McCormick’s Death, Dinner and Performance project, a performance event that places the taboo subjects of death and dying around the dinner table for discussion. You can find the trailer to the project below.
