AMAZING NEWS! We are thrilled to announce that the New Adelphi Theatre has selected six recently graduating individuals/groups from our Performance directorate to become the next cohort of Supported Artists.

The Performance Graduate Scholarship Programme, in collaboration with the Alumni Team, awards graduates from the University’s performance disciplines the financial support, resources, facilities and time to experiment and take risks within their creative practice. The programme is designed to provide recent Graduates with an opportunity to develop their skills and further their professional experience within a supportive framework.

The Performance Graduate Scholarships are funded through the generosity of our donors and supported by the Alumni Engagement & Development Team.

Let’s meet our 2024-25 Supported Artists and hear more about their plans and next steps in their creative practice…

Bradley Shore will be working with Kamila Pytel in a continuation of their dissertation in the mixture of headphone and dance theatre.

Bradley told us: “I’m so thrilled to be working with Kamila again on this project. I was so honoured to learn I would receive this opportunity to create this performance. We will be co-creating the project, with myself heading the writing. The piece will be shown at the GM Fringe next year, and I hope to see you all there!”

Ciaran Cookson (He/Him) is a Theatre and Performance Arts Practice graduate. Throughout his time at University, he has found a passion for the people involved in making history. He has a passion for writing Theatre and Poetry, which has become his primary focus within his work. His most recent script details the three cousins who started World War One, then comparing it to how a modern-day world war would break out.

Ciaran told us: “I am thrilled to be awarded the Graduate Scholarship that will allow me to continue my work on my most show, Mud Rats. I will continue to rewrite the script for use of a small-scale tour, touring small village halls focusing on damage that wars like World War One could do to them, as well as delivering it to veterans’ clubs, offering poetry sessions to help veterans cope with PTSD.”

Kamila, who is originally from Poland, is a recent postgraduate from the Theatre and Performance Practice course at University of Salford. She has been performing since her early years of life and being at university helped to deepen her understanding of the arts. From TV acting, through radio and different types of theatre practices, the one that interested Kamila the most was physical theatre. In her final project, she worked with Bradley Shore to create a visual piece, including audio recordings. Before that they had worked together for the Almost Famous Theatre Company’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Kamila told us: “I am unbelievably grateful for being awarded the Graduate Scholarship and excited to choreograph a performance for a wider audience. It’s a once in a lifetime experience to be able to work with mentors and gain skills that will make me become better at my craft.”
