Thomas the Rhymer was a mediaeval minstrel who, according to legend, disappeared to the Land of Faery for seven years.
Now he’s back, but he’s different somehow. He doesn’t seem to fit anymore. And why is a white hind suddenly so important?
Join Seany Minstrel, and some special friends, as he considers what might have happened to True Thomas once his sojourn in Elfland was over, and what that might mean for us today – especially for those of us who don’t always feel like we ‘fit in’.
Expect songs, poetry, laughter and some quite eccentric behaviour from people old enough to know better.
Seán Fitton (Seany Minstrel) is a writer, performer and final-year Practice-as-Research PhD student investigating the dialogue between Queer self-identity and the archetypal figures of myth, legend and faery tale, as experienced through performance personae. Thomas the Rhymer Went Back is the culminating performance of Seán’s research.
