The Cold Reading Room

The Cold Reading Room is an immersive one-on-one theatrical experience that utilises a roulette wheel to deconstruct the manipulation techniques employed by physic cold readers. This unique production, made possible by the Liam Byrne Award, blurs reality, sheds light on our susceptibility to these deceptive tactics. Serving as a companion piece to the Stand Up Horror Show, the performance challenges traditional theatrical norms, extending beyond the confines of the conventional black box setting.

Hello, I’m Ellie!

“Hello, I’m Ellie! I’m a virtual assistant. I’m here to…. studying for my master’s and am a proud member of the LGBTQ+ …. here to provide anything you might need!”
Hello, I’m Ellie! explores what glitching an AI might look like. It asks a chatbot to identify as a queer/transgender individual and, in an exercise of AI-human co-scriptwriting, interrogates the identity she has formed.
This show examines the dangers of using of AI within the creative process and how, through glitching, AI might actually be a useful tool in understanding queerness.
WARNINGS: Discussion of transphobia/gender dysphoria, Partial nudity? Suitable for ages 18+.
The Stand Up Horror Show

The Stand Up Horror Show, an innovative creation by Tom Short, masterfully fuses comedy and horror to deliver an exceptional theatrical experience. Tom Short, recognised as a finalist in the Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year competition and a runner-up in the Chortle Student Comedian of the Year contest, pushes the boundaries of theatrical conventions. This production ingeniously blends stand-up comedy with chilling horror storytelling.
