Every year in May we host Debut, a three-day festival of collaborative projects from students on the BA Theatre & Performance Practice and BA Comedy Writing & Performance. This festival brings together a diverse range of work – including devised pieces, scripted plays, multimedia theatre, comedy performances and more as our final year Performance students prepare to launch themselves into the professional world.
With the extraordinary circumstances we still find ourselves in over a year since our theatre closed, we have made the decision to invite students to perform their work live in front of an intimate audience of their peers and academic supervisors.
This means that this year we are unable to open our doors to the general public and our students’ friends and family. We are all disappointed and saddened by this, but the academic, technical teams and the student cohort feel it’s important for our students to end their time as Salford Undergraduates in the School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology with the opportunity to perform their work live, rather than online.
In the next few weeks, we will be posting behind the scenes content created by our students on the UoS_Performance Instagram. In the final lead up to the performances, the students will also be taking over the Insta account – so keep an eye on our Stories!
Our team are so disappointed to not be able to produce and host a large celebratory festival and after-party for you – our early-career artists – this year, but we’re working hard behind the scenes to make sure that you have a meaningful, rich and safe experience through this internal showcase, digital engagement support; through our Graduate Scholarship Scheme and other opportunities which we’ll be announcing soon.
Please note: 3rd year Theatre and Comedy Project students can reserve a space at their friend’s performance by emailing Georgia and Mark (find more info on your module site, on Blackboard Ultra)
